Traffic Incident Scene Investigation Simulator
Traffic Incident Scene Investigation Simulator
The Traffic Incident Scene Investigation Simulator (TISIS) is an advanced application created by EpicVR that allows forensic science students to participate in practical exercises related to the investigation of traffic incident scenes. With TISIS, students can practice various activities directly in virtual scenarios, providing them with invaluable hands-on learning.

Project Background
The EpicVR team recognized the limitations of traditional forensic science training methods, which often relied solely on theory. Therefore, we decided to create TISIS, a traffic incident scene investigation simulator that enables students to engage in practical exercises without the need for direct involvement in real-life situations. Our goal was to provide students with a realistic and engaging experience that would allow them to apply their acquired knowledge in practice.
Creation Process
1. Designing Virtual Scenarios:
We developed advanced virtual scenarios that reflect various traffic situations. We enabled instructors at Collegium Witelona to create scenarios involving different participants, such as passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, and pedestrians. We also provided the ability to customize lighting conditions (day, twilight, night) and weather conditions (sun, rain, fog), as well as modify the colors of vehicle bodies, participants’ clothing, add tire tracks, and set up road signs and traffic signals.
2. Accessibility for People with Disabilities:
We ensured that TISIS was programmatically and hardware-accessible for people with disabilities. We provided a user interface and control options that allow individuals with various types of disabilities to use the application without barriers.
3. Documentation Generation and Assessment:
After students complete tasks, the application automatically generates various documents, such as reports, sketches, photographic documentation, and checklists. These documents are available as files and can be assessed by instructors, allowing for tracking students’ progress and providing feedback.
4. Achieving Training Goals:
TISIS allows students to practice various activities related to the investigation of traffic incident scenes, such as collecting and analyzing evidence, documenting the incident, and taking measurements. Thanks to this simulator, students have the opportunity to practically apply their knowledge and enhance their skills throughout their education.
Thanks to EpicVR and the TISIS application, forensic science students have a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice and gain valuable experience in investigating traffic incident scenes.
